Qualified Charitable Contributions

Give Through Your IRA

If you’re 70½ or older, you may be able to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to support our mission. This special type of gift can be a smart way to give—while also reducing your taxable income.

What is a QCD?

A QCD (sometimes called an “IRA Charitable Rollover”) allows individuals aged 70½ or older to donate up to $100,000 per year directly from their IRA to a qualified charity, without counting the distribution as taxable income

Benefits of Giving Through a QCD

  • Tax Savings – QCDs can lower your adjusted gross income, even if you don’t itemize deductions.

  • Satisfy RMDs – If you’re 73 or older and required to take annual minimum distributions (RMDs), your QCD can count toward that requirement.

  • Direct Impact – Your gift goes straight to work supporting SCSCR, helping us fulfill our mission

Important Details

  • You must be 70½ or older at the time of the gift.

  • Gifts must come directly from your IRA to qualify.

  • The maximum annual QCD is $108,000 per person.
