Barn Cat Program

Give a Feral Cat a Second Chance—and Get a Natural Pest Control Expert in Return!

Not every cat is cut out for couch life. Some of our rescued cats prefer the great outdoors and human companionship from a distance. These working cats may not be lap cats, but they still deserve safe and purposeful lives—and they can be an incredible asset to your barn, shop, warehouse, or rural property.

Our Barn Cat Program places unsocialized or semi-social cats who aren’t suited for indoor adoption into environments where they can thrive as working cats while helping control rodent populations naturally and effectively.

Why Adopt a Barn Cat?

  • 🐭 Eco-Friendly Rodent Control – Barn cats are natural hunters and keep mice, rats, and other pests at bay without harmful chemicals.

  • 🏡 A Second Chance at Life – These cats may have been born outdoors, lived as strays, or survived difficult pasts. A barn placement offers them safety, food, and purpose.

  • 💕 Low Maintenance, High Reward – Barn cats don’t need constant attention. They just need a warm place to sleep, fresh food and water daily, and routine vet care.

What You Provide:

  • Shelter from the elements (a barn, shed, garage, or similar structure)

  • Daily food and water (they can’t live on hunting alone)

  • A safe environment away from busy roads and predators

  • A commitment to care for the cat for the rest of its life

What We Provide:

  • Spayed/neutered cats that cannot reproduce

  • Vaccinations and basic medical care before placement

  • A short guide on how to help your new barn cats acclimate

  • Ongoing support if you have questions

The Acclimation Process:

Cats need to be confined for the first 2–4 weeks in their new location to adjust to the sights, smells, and sounds of their new home. We will provide detailed instructions to help ensure your new barn cats don’t wander off and instead settle into their new territory.

Adopt a Barn Cat

We typically place barn cats in pairs or small groups, as they do better with a companion. There is no adoption fee for barn cats, but donations are always appreciated to support their medical care.
